To honor our area Veterans, currently serving Military personnel, and 1st Responders, the Freedom’s Never Free organization holds events across our nation. For twenty years, the local chapter of this organization has worked to provide a variety of memorial displays, speakers, and activities to not only honor those individuals but to also involve the greater community and to share information and history. This event is held at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds during the first weekend of November and they do an excellent job!
This year the students from Logan-Hocking Middle School and Logan High School were invited to participate in a poster competition as part of this important event. The challenge was to create an 8 ½ x 11 or 9 x 12 patriotic poster honoring Veterans, our Military personnel, and 1st Responders. With a tight deadline, our students went to work and created some very worthwhile works of art. The organizers of the poster competition sent these remarks back to our school district; “The posters were displayed and truly a priceless gift & more impact than you’ll ever know.” The public was invited to vote for their favorite works of art. 104 entries and 212 votes determined the winners of this year’s event and divided between the middle school and high school classes.
The prize winners the year in the middle school division were from Logan-Hocking Middle School and are as follows:
