Brighten Your Future is proud to announce the recipients of the Lillian and Leon Eichel Scholarship, an award dedicated to supporting Logan High School graduates as they pursue higher education.

Brighten Your Future, a Logan-Hocking community initiative focused on expanding access to postsecondary opportunities, oversees the administration and selection of this meaningful scholarship.

The scholarship was established by longtime Logan residents Leon and Lillian Eichel, who were well known for owning Leon’s Sundries, a popular shop once located next to the town’s movie theater. For many local residents, a visit to the store for candy before a film was a fond childhood memory and a lasting symbol of the Eichel’s connection to the community.

Through their generosity, the Eichel’s created a scholarship to assist Logan Senior High School graduates attending accredited colleges, universities, or technical programs across the United States. They held a special interest in supporting “late bloomers”—students who may not have fully realized their academic potential until their final years of high school.

Recipients of the Eichel Scholarship are selected based on a range of criteria, including academic achievement and potential, character, financial need, school involvement, and community service. All recipients must enroll full-time and maintain full-time status in their chosen program of study.

This year’s recipients are: Madison Williams, Allison Barrell, Lilah Bell, Avery Moore, Isaiah Hood, David James, Jocelyn Sarver, Konnor Bice, Shea Burggraf, Paige Fuller, Evie Hacker and Kalli Straus.
