The American Government class had a hands-on demonstration of the different levels of federalism, and how we, the people, "the Frosting" keep this cake together and functional. This lesson was a cross-curricular lesson with Mrs. McCleese's Cooking class. The students in Mrs. McCleese's class baked delicious three-layer cakes with cream cheese frosting that beautifully illustrated the balance of power in our system of Government-- Federalism. The students had to identify the functions of each level of government within the federal system by holding up signs indicating whether it was federal, state, or concurrent powers.
