Mr. Carlo's Advanced Quantitative Reasoning (AQR) classes are assuming the role of a contracting firm and creating a proposal to remodel his classroom. First, students drew a blueprint of the floor, ceiling, and all four walls of the classroom. Second, they measured everything in the room and wrote their measurements on their blueprints, then calculated the area of everything on the blueprints. Third, they filled out a Measurements Worksheet that determined how much of each material they would need during the remodeling process. Fourth, students "shopped" online at Lowe's to find the cost of the materials needed. Finally, students put together a final proposal and presented it to the class to see which contracting firm would have the best chance of getting the job.
