Bus Safety

On August 27 the students of Hocking Hills Elementary participated in our bus safety presentations as given by our bus garage in order to prepare our students for any safety issues that may arise during the transportation parts of their day. Students listened as Ms. Carol discussed the importance of staying in our designated safe areas, what hand signals to look for, and to make sure they always look when crossing the road. Students participated in a classroom bus demonstration that taught them that a bus is approximately 37 feet long and weighs 32,000 pounds, and they were surprised to learn that this is as much as 10 elephants! Students practiced safely evacuating buses and then practiced crossing at bus stops outside with Mr. Cliff. A huge thank you to our bus garage for keeping our students safe! Please always remember to look at your surroundings and stop for school buses! Our students' safety is of the utmost importance for all of us.
