Dolly Day!

Posted Date: 10/08/26 (03:47 PM)

LHMS Student Council planned a Spirit Week for all students from September 21-25. Friday's theme was 'Dress Country' in honor of Dolly Day, a day set to honor the life, music and generous spirit of the late Dolly Parton. In 1995, Dolly created Dolly's Imagination Library, a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age 5. The program was created as a tribute to Dolly's father who never learned to read or write. Dolly's mission was to inspire a lifetime love of reading and learning in young children. In conjunction with the spirit day, the Student Council also voted to host a fundraiser to support this mission by selling Dolly-inspired cupcakes during lunch periods. Students sold 16 dozen cupcakes and profited $473.24 which was donated to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Imagination Library
