Logan-Hocking Local School District News.

The 5th and 6th grade students at Logan Hocking Middle School in Mrs. Oldham's art class have been learning about the events that happened on 9/11/2001. Although these students weren't even born when these tragic events happened, they were saddened and angered by what they witnessed.

The 5th grade students were asked to look at the cover of the New Yorker magazine that was published on September 24, 2001 and make their own magazine cover using Google drawing tools. The 6th graders were asked to look at pieces of art created in reaction to the events on 9/11 and come up with their own interpretations of what they saw. In this unit, students were able to learn how making art can be a way to communicate their emotions and share their feelings with others.

Artwork on display was chosen by the students through a voting process. Both the 5th and 6th grade were allowed to vote for one image they liked the best from each class and the top picks are included in this display. Those that weren't chosen are being displayed on the Principal's Bulletin Board at LHMS during the month of October.

The show runs through October 23rd at the Maya Burrito Gallery located at 12 E. Main St. in Logan, Ohio
