The Color Project - 5th Grade Descriptive Poems at the Maya Burrito Gallery
A new exhibit at the Maya Burrito Company brings something unique to the showplace. The fifth graders in Mrs. Schein's social studies class at Logan-Hocking Middle School have been creating descriptive poems to help them visualize a nature scene. Students had to use synonyms and adjectives to describe the colors they chose in their poems. The drawings are self portraits wearing glasses, reflecting the scene that they are describing. Students were also allowed to “jazz” themselves up in their drawings to have some fun with their drawings.
Every year Mrs. Schein uses this project to help students learn how to visualize the world around them. She has found that this type of learning is especially important when learning geography.
Take a few minutes to stop by and check out the creative expressions made by some of our local 5th graders. The show runs through December 11th at the Maya Burrito Gallery located at 12 E. Main St. in Logan, Ohio
