Submitted by: Shelly Riggs', "The Logan High School Thespian Troupe, under the direction of Shelly Riggs, will perform a staged reading of Thornton Wilder's classic play, Our Town, on Saturday, April 23rd at 7:00pm in the LHS Theatre. Admission to this production is free. Donations to the LHS Drama Club are always gratefully accepted.
Wilder's play tells the story of the fictional American small town of Grover's Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens. A staged reading is a form of theatre without sets or full costumes. The actors, who read from scripts, may be seated, stand in fixed positions, or incorporate minimal stage movement. A staged reading is not a fully produced event, but a performance where the actors speak from microphones, drawing attention to the playwright's words and the emotions and relationships between characters. Our Town is typically produced on a bare stage, and the staged reading format works well for this beautiful play.
“Our Town” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com
