During the 2025–2026 school year, Logan-Hocking Schools, in collaboration with the LHSD Business Advisory Council, continued expanding opportunities for students to explore careers, connect with local industries, and prepare for life after graduation.
Career exploration is intentionally designed by grade level, building awareness and direction over time. Sophomores explored healthcare careers through the Health Career Expo, while juniors participated in the Southeastern Ohio College Fair at Hocking College, Chamber Groundhog Breakfast job shadowing experiences, and the LHS Career Fair. Seniors focused on postsecondary planning and workforce readiness through additional college and career preparation activities.
Through the Find Your Path Career Series, students heard directly from career speakers at the high school and stepped into workplaces through visits to Amanda Manufacturing, Magna International, and TP Mechanical, gaining firsthand exposure to careers in manufacturing and the skilled trades.
That exposure deepened through internships in partnership with Building Bridges to Careers (BB2C). Five students participated in the Ohio Handle With Care Mental Health Internship, two explored technology career pathways, and one participated in a marketing internship at the HapCap Market.
Logan High School also continued expanding work-based learning opportunities for seniors, allowing students to attend school for half of the day while spending the remainder of their day working within local businesses and industries. These experiences strengthen job skills and connect classroom learning to future career pathways.
To further support career-connected learning, LHS provides additional work-based learning supports through internal programming. The internal work study program includes students from all four grade levels who work daily in the cafeteria and kitchen while supporting recycling and composting initiatives. These roles strengthen responsibility, communication, time management, and work ethic, while summer work study opportunities extend learning beyond the school year.
Additionally, LHS offers an external work study program for a select group of seniors, allowing them to participate in supervised, community-based employment during the school day. Many students transition directly into employment at their placement sites.
To bring these experiences full circle, all juniors and seniors participated in the LHS Career Fair, which connected students with more than 20 businesses and organizations and provided opportunities for networking, interviews, and employment. Several students secured seasonal, part-time, or full-time jobs as a result.
These experiences reflect Logan-Hocking Schools’ commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school by helping them explore career pathways, develop professional skills, and build community connections.
Logan-Hocking Schools extends sincere appreciation to the many business, industry, healthcare, and community partners supporting career-connected learning across the district.
