In recognition of National Rural Health Day, Logan High School partnered with Hocking Valley Community Hospital to host a Health and Safety Career Fair designed to highlight the wide range of careers, skills, and educational pathways available in the healthcare and public safety fields. Representatives from Hopewell Health Centers, Health Recovery Services, the Hocking County Health Department, Hocking College Nursing Program, and Ohio University Allied Health contributed to the event’s healthcare-focused theme.
Presentation tables and interactive displays were set up throughout the LHS Auxiliary Gym, giving students the opportunity to learn about the many components required to deliver quality healthcare—from finance and information technology to nursing, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, and medical laboratory science. The fair provided students with hands-on exposure to career fields they may not typically encounter in the classroom.
The event also featured several first responder agencies, including Hocking County EMS, the Logan Fire Department, Logan Police Department, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the U.S. Department of Justice/DEA, and Hocking College Fire Sciences. Representatives shared career information, personal experiences, and training program details with students.
The career fair was designed for 10th-grade students and those enrolled in Logan High School’s health-related courses. As part of their visit, students participated in a health and safety–themed scavenger hunt, explored six or more career stations, completed feedback surveys, and toured the Chieftain Health Clinic located on the Logan High School campus.
Logan-Hocking Schools extends its sincere appreciation to the many local partners and professionals who contributed their time, expertise, and enthusiasm to support student learning. The district is grateful for the strong community partnerships that help prepare LHS students for future success.
