The Brighten Your Future (BYF) Trustees are pleased to announce that 42 graduates of Logan High School will receive BYF funds for the 2025-2026 academic year. BYF grants are awarded based on financial need and are funded by the interest earned from the organization's assets. Brighten Your Future proudly celebrates the distribution of over $2.3 million in grant money, totaling 1,681 grants awarded over the years, to assist Logan High School graduates in furthering their education.
Brighten Your Future (BYF) is a program dedicated to the Logan-Hocking community, aimed at facilitating access to higher education for graduates of Logan High School. Its primary objective is to ensure that students have the financial resources required to pursue education beyond high school. To fulfill this mission, Brighten Your Future offers "last dollar" grants to all eligible students.
Recipients may utilize their grants at any accredited college, university, or career-training program, and they may be eligible to receive grants annually for up to five years of undergraduate education.
Grant awards to students are determined based on financial need, which is assessed through documentation submitted as part of the application process. The concept of “need” is calculated strictly through numerical data provided by the applicants. Each year, trustees set a maximum grant amount based on the available funding and the number of eligible applicants. Students can qualify for grants based on their demonstrated need, up to this maximum limit. Most students are eligible for the maximum grant amount; however, some applicants may qualify for a lesser sum, while others may not qualify at all.
“Brighten Your Future does not mandate the repayment of grant funds; however, we hope that the generosity and gratitude fostered by the organization will inspire recipients to contribute back to BYF upon graduation and/or securing employment. We encourage recipients to consider donating an amount equivalent to what they received, thereby ensuring the sustainability of the 'Last Dollar' endowment fund to assist future graduates of Logan High School. This embodies a pay-it-forward approach,” shared Kim Norway, Executive Director.
