On Monday, April 22, 2024, the Logan-Hocking Local Board of Education recognized students as well as community leaders. 

The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center honored students and teachers on the evening of March 6th at their Annual Student and Teacher Recognition Ceremony at Secrest Auditorium in Zanesville, OH.  Receiving the Outstanding Student award was Bea Nutter, LHS Senior.  The Outstanding students chose a teacher who made a major impact on their success throughout their school career and Bea chose to honor LHS English teacher, Elizabeth Fackler.   Tim Cassady, LHS Math Teacher, was honored as the Logan-Hocking School District Exemplary Educator during the ceremony.  Also recognized was Ashton Mason, LHS Senior, as the recipient of the Franklin B. Walter Scholarship.  Ashton will attend another luncheon this spring to recognize all Franklin B. Walter Scholarship recipients from around the state.

The following students from Chief Logan FFA placed 1st in the State in two Career Development Events (CDE) this spring Agricultural Mechanic Skills and Outdoor Power Equipment. The team consisted of junior Justin Sudlow and sophomores Wyatt Lambert and Hayden Bond. Justin was also the top individual in each of the contests.

CDE Descriptions

The purpose of the Agricultural Mechanic Skills CDE is to assess the students’ skills in agricultural mechanics that occur in maintenance and repair.  Students will demonstrate the proper use of tools and apply tool use and knowledge to daily situations in agricultural mechanical environments.

The Outdoor Power Equipment CDE serves as an authentic assessment designed to evaluate students’ knowledge in recognizing and repairing malfunctions in outdoor power equipment.

Artwork on Display at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus 

As part of a month-long celebration of the arts and arts education, students from Logan-Hocking Middle School, Josh Brown, Kreo Kilpatrick, Aubrie McKinley, Grace Manter, Chase Rife, and Cohen Sohonage have had their artwork selected for the 2024 Statehouse Student Exhibition. As part of a month-long celebration of the arts and arts education, the Ohio Art Education Association joined with the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, the Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation, and Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board to mount a student exhibition to recognize the talents, creativity, and innovation of students who receive high-quality arts education instruction as part of their academic experience in school.
