District Vision Statement
Our vision captures the future we strive to create for our students. The Logan- Hocking School District exists to:

  • Provide a safe, nurturing educational environment for all;
  • Provide each child with an engaging and rigorous education;
  • Provide diverse opportunities that empower all students to learn and succeed;
  • Create honorable, thoughtful citizens capable of leading communities.
     

District Mission Statement

  • The Mission of the Logan-Hocking School District is to engage students through education that empowers them to succeed.
  • Engage, Educate, Empower, Succeed
  • Objective: Increase overall student academic performance across all grade levels to raise the district's report card rating from 4 stars to 4.5 stars within the next two years.

    Key Strategies:

    • Analyze state assessment data to identify and address learning gaps in core subjects (ELA, Math,).
    • Implement targeted intervention programs for underperforming students.
    • Increase the use of formative assessments (assessment authoring, benchmark assessment etc.) to guide instruction.
    • Provide professional development for teachers in grades 6-12 focused on the new ELA curriculum.
    • Strengthen writing curriculum alignment in grades k-12.
       

    Performance Indicators:

    • Improvement in state test scores across grade levels.
    • Growth in performance index.
    • Increased percentage of students meeting or exceeding grade-level expectations.
    • Upward trend in district and school building report card components (e.g., Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, Graduation Rate)
    • Improve Alignment in writing grades K-12
  • Objective:
    Reduce chronic absenteeism by 3% and increase the district’s overall attendance rate to 94% or higher by the end of the academic year.

    Key Strategies:

    • Identify and track students with attendance issues using early warning systems.
    • Partner with families to address barriers to regular attendance (e.g., transportation, health, engagement).
    • Launch a district-wide attendance awareness campaign promoting the importance of being present and on time.
    • Provide incentives and recognition for improved and exemplary attendance.
    • Collaborate with community organizations to provide wraparound supports for at-risk students.
       

    Performance Indicators:

    • Decrease in the number of students classified as chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school days).
    • Increase in average daily attendance rate across all buildings.
    • Improved student engagement and academic performance linked to higher attendance.
    • Increase communication with students and parents providing chronic absenteeism information. 
  • Objective:
    Improve the physical, emotional, and psychological safety of all students and staff by implementing comprehensive safety measures and fostering a positive school climate by the end of the school year.

    Key Strategies:

    • Conduct regular safety audits and update emergency operations plans in collaboration with local law enforcement.
    • Conduct monthly district safety team meetings composed of school personnel, local law enforcement, and local first responders.
    • Implement or strengthen our school district’s PBIS program to promote positive behavior.
    • Conduct thorough Threat Assessments with the building Threat Assessment teams .
    • Promote the Safer Ohio Tip Line 844-723-3764  Suicide Crisis Line 988 and Crisis text line:4Hope to 741741through a Speak up and Save Lives
    • Campaign.
       

    Performance Indicators:

    • Reduction in incidents related to bullying, fights, or threats.
    • Educate students on school safety and safety drills.
    • Completion rate of safety drills and staff training.
    • Improved ratings on school security vulnerability assessment.
    • Fewer disciplinary referrals or suspensions related to safety issues.
    • Promote and reward positive behaviors through our school’s PBIS program.
